Saturday Mornings At The Park

TheMashTeam April 4, 2020
Each Saturday morning from 7:30 – 8:30 (Heat, rain, snow, sleet or hail) finds members of Spirit Alive at Memorial Park in downtown Oshawa.
Here they serve coffee, muffins, sandwiches, and frittatas to appreciate members of the downtown community.  Over the years they have developed meaningful friendships and a sense of community. Each week you can expect to see 20-40 people enjoying their time together. Sometimes We have been know to give out $5 Tim Hortons Gift cards.
Would you like to participate or help out financially, click the DONATE Button on on the front page.

Spirit ALive helps those in need!

TheMashTeam April 3, 2020
Spirit Alive is continuing to support those in need throughout this crisis.  Some of the ways we are doing this are:
1.  Donation of $2000 to Feed the Need.  Because Feed the Need has  excellent buying power and distributing expertise, the board felt that an early infusion of cash would be a great way to reach a lot of people in need. We will continue to be in touch with FTN and monitor when/if best to donate again.
2.   Grocery cards in the amounts of $25 and $50 to be given to local downtown Oshawa people in need.
3.  Distribution of frozen soups from We Grow Food.
4.  Presently, our Saturday morning “Coffee/Muffins/Sandwiches/Frittatas” at Memorial Park is still happening, although being done differently and as safely as possible.  As regulations tighten this may need to be reassessed in order to keep everyone safe.  We do not want to put either patrons or volunteers are risk.
If you would like to help with these (and future) projects please donate through Canada Helps.
Thank you!

Keepers Project Update

TheMashTeam January 22, 2019

The lockers have been installed for almost 2 years now.  Locker tenants have expressed their appreciation of a safe place to store their belongings.  Tenants have been observed using their lockers at various times of the day.  There has been no physical damage to the lockers, although graffiti has had to be removed occasionally but not for a very long time.

Concerned people in other municipalities have inquired about duplicating the project in their locations.  Three particular municipalities in Ontario are making good progress toward an installation.

We are investigating a second installation in Oshawa and hope to have news soon.
